Public Enemies

Public Enemies.John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) is a charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the no. 1 target of J. Edgar Hoover's (Billy Crudup) fledgling FBI and its top agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale), but a folk hero to the downtrodden public. His charm endeared him to almost everyone - from his girlfriend Billie (Marion Cotillard) to the public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged America into the Depression. An elaborate cat-and-mouse chase between the FBI and Dillinger's gang ensues, peppered with betrayals and double crosses, eventually leading to the downfall of America's most notorious Depression-era outlaw.
